If you are submerged in a river over your head and you open your eyes – you experience the world differently. You are almost weightless, you feel the current like a heavy wind, your sight is limited but your ears experience sound in 3D and you know the water is surrounding you because you can feel its presence even though you can’t see it.
We live in a spiritual world that is very similar. All around us, all of the reality we experience is comprised of “living water” and we are submerged in it. Even though we can’t see it we know there is something more there because we feel it instinctively.
Once this perspective clicks in your mind and you start looking at the world in this way, you experience things differently. You feel the spirit of the things around you along with seeing the physical representation of it. People, trees, animals and literally everything around you is comprised of this living water – spirit – and the physical world we can see is only a shadow of a much larger spiritual existence. When we focus on the physical world it’s like looking underwater without goggles on – our sight is distorted and very limited. When our mind opens and we put on spiritually aware goggles, we take off the blinders – everything we were taught to believe about the world as a child. You start to see and experience the world like you are a small part of something much bigger than just yourself. That instinctive “feel” of the things around you grows and becomes our primary sense instead of sight.
We are alive in a reality that is made up of living water. A reality breathed into existence by “the father of all spirits” – God. He called himself ”I am” or alternatively translated, “I am existence” because all of reality that we experience, this living water, is comprised of His spirit. He IS spirit, there is nothing spiritual that is not of him.
In the beginning, all was a spiritual soup (Genesis) that was unorganized, void and without form. Then God created order in the chaos of the “water”, separating and organizing the living water into the world that we experience, heavens and earth and many forms of life that multiply according to their kind. He created man and gave us the ability to do the same thing… shape the living water into whatever reality we dream up with a few, 10 to be exact, rules we have to follow in order to avoid condemnation for the reality we create.
We all have this ability to see the world as living water and shape it into whatever we dream but we have to be reconciled with God first for a lifetime of not obeying his 10 rules. That reconciliation only comes by faith in Jesus. Jesus promises that “out of his heart will flow a river of living water”. Some people accept Jesus’ promise with blind faith from the time they are young… however for some of us, the journey to faith is a long road. There are other things we need to understand and experience before we can put our faith into it wholeheartedly. If you are one of those people, this blog is for you. Together we will explore the unseen and seek a deeper understanding of this living water we are submerged in.
